Top 5 PU Synthetic Leather Manufacturers in China

Why choose Chinese PU synthetic leather manufacturers?

In synthetic leather manufacturing industry chain, China has long been an important choice for global buyers with its mature industrial clusters, cost-effective products and constantly innovative process technologies. Especially in the field of PU (polyurethane) synthetic leather, from shoes, bags, car interiors to home sofas, it covers almost all soft material application scenarios. Chinese manufacturers not only provide a wide range of PU leather material products, but also provide strong customization service to accurately meet the special needs of brand designers and OEM/ODM customers.

Compared with PU leather manufacturers in Europe, the United States, Japan and other countries, the biggest advantages of Chinese manufacturers are: strong production cost control ability, fast response speed, stable delivery time, and continuously improving environmental protection standards. Especially in recent years, as domestic manufacturing companies have gradually paid attention to the demand experience of overseas markets, from product quality, testing and certification to customer service, they are all aligned with international first-class standards.

We introduce five representative Chinese PU synthetic leather manufacturers in depth to help global buyers and brands understand how to choose the most suitable partner for their needs from many manufacturers, and provide practical procurement suggestions.

Current status and development trend of China’s PU synthetic leather industry

China’s PU 합성 가죽 industry started in the 1980s and gradually formed industrial belts in Dongguan, Zhejiang, Fujian and other places. In recent years, with the tightening of environmental protection regulations and the upgrading of international trade requirements, China’s PU leather industry is undergoing a transformation in technical structure:

Popularization of water-based PU leather technology: Traditional solvent-based PU leather contains a large amount of DMF, which is easy to affect the environment and human body. As an alternative, water-based PU technology (WPU) has been widely used in high-end bags and shoes.

Bio-based PU leather has become a research and development hotspot: Bio-based PU synthesized from natural raw materials such as corn and vegetable oil is not only degradable, but also has good flexibility and durability, which caters to the pursuit of “environmentally friendly materials” by international brands.

Increasing demand for functional PU leather: Composite functional PU leathers such as waterproof and breathable, antibacterial, flame retardant, scratch-resistant and wear-resistant are becoming more and more popular year by year, especially suitable for outdoor equipment and automotive interiors.

According to the 2024 statistics of the “Forward-looking Industry Research Institute”, the scale of China’s PU synthetic leather market has exceeded RMB 230 billion, and the export volume accounts for more than 40% of the total global PU leather trade. It can be seen that its influence in the international market continues to increase.
